Handcrafted in the villages of Andhra Pradesh, the Sita puppet belongs to the ancient art of Tolu Bommalata — the leather shadow puppetry tradition that once brought the Ramayana and Mahabharata alive on glowing screens of light.
Each puppet is cut from leather, hand-painted with natural watercolours, and perforated with tiny holes so light passes through — transforming it into a radiant artwork. When lit, the puppet comes alive just like in the traditional shadow plays, embodying devotion, resilience, and grace.
